Bird Crazy Treehouse...

Hello friends! I'm so happy you've stopped by today!  I have a couple of fun projects made with the New Tim Holtz Sizzix Bird Crazy Thinlits dies and I'm really excited to share them with you today!  First up is my Bird Crazy Tree house.  What better place to put a bunch of birds, than a tree house…right!
This Bird Crazy stamp set always puts a smile on my face, anytime I see something made with them!  So, when I found out Tim had come out with a coordinating Bird Crazy Sizzix Thinlits die set, I was just elated!   The detailed cutting of the stamped images with the dies from the head, all the way down to the tiny legs and feet just amaze me!  Tim Holtz has an awesome video here, all about the New Bird Crazy Thinlits Dies!

Each Bird Crazy stamp (stamps are sold separately) has three Thinlit dies that will coordinate with it.  One for the entire image, another for eyes/nose and a third for the wing or wings.  So you stamp your image 3 separate times, so you get one full image to die cut and then one set for the eyes and one set for the wings to die cut.

The Thinlits are so easy to use and match up exactly to the stamped image.  Also, if you don't already have the Sizzix Precision Baseplate you will definitely want it.  One pass through my Vagabond and that is all it took, the images cut out cleanly and perfectly!

I'll give you a quick highlight on how I put this tree house together.  I painted my wooden base collage with Black Soot, Gathered Twigs, Walnut Stain, Rusty Hinge and Spiced Marmalade Distress Paint.  After paint had completely dried, I used a sanding grip to distress the layers of paint.
I measured and cut inserts for each opening out of Ranger Mixed Media cardstock.  I apply Texture Paste on my cardstock insert using the Woodgrain stencil, then let air dry.  After all of my pasted inserts were dried, I colored with Gathered Twigs, Vintage Photo Distress Spray Stain, a little water and dried with a heat tool.  Then used Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool to highlight.
The grass is diecut from the "Mini Airplane and Cloud" die set.  Then colored with Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint Distress Spray Stain and a little water then dried with a heat tool.  The butterflies are from the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Small Butterfly Punch and Distress Watercolor Cardstock.
All of the birds are stamped on Distress Watercolor Cardstock with black Archival Ink.  Then diecut and colorized with a variety of Distress Inks and a blending tool.  The hardware is a couple of Idea-ology pieces, the Clock Keys and Faucet Knobs.
I thought I would share with you, where I found my wooden base of my tree house.   I was perusing my local Michael's craft store, when I came across this unfinished wooden piece.  I thought it's perfect, there's just enough spots to put all my birds!

I just had to make a fun little Bird Crazy card too!  The base of the card is black Kraft Core cardstock,  sanded to expose some kraft.  I made a Distress DIY InkPad with Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans reinkers.  Then stamped the dot background on Distress Watercolor Cardstock using the Dots Background Stamp and the blue Distress DIY ink pad.  The stars are from Tim Holtz Sizzix Small Star Punch and the Thinlits Star Shape Strips die.  The bird is stamped on Distress Watercolor Cardstock using the Bird Crazy stamp set and black Archival Ink.  Then die cut with the Bird Crazy coordinating Thinlits dies, then colored with Distress Inks and a blending tool.  I diecut the word "celebrate" from the Handwritten Celebrate Thinlits collection using black Kraft Core.
I shaded all of my paper pieces with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink and a blending tool, then distressed with a little water and dried with a heat tool.  I sewed a border around the dot background.  Then added a couple of Remnant Rubs.  Last but not least, using the Distress Markers Spritzer and a Hickory Smoke marker, I added some splatter to the background.  Doesn't that little bird just make you smile, it sure does me! :)
I have listed links for all the products that I used in making my Bird Crazy Treehouse and card below.
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day! xx
