CC3C Layering Stencil: Embossing Christmas Tag

Hi everyone, I'm glad you stopped by!  Today I'm sharing a project that I did for Inspiration Emporium and Compendium of Curiosities III Challenge hosted by Linda Ledbetter.  I just barely got in on this one!  Challenge number 16 is found on page 50 of Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities Volume Three book.  If you don't have this great book you can find it here and Tim Holtz will even sign it for you!!!  This challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique who have a wonderful $25 gift voucher to give away to one lucky winner. Also, the Curiosity Crew Pick wins a fabulous pack of goodies from Tim and Mario!  Now,here is my take on this "Layering Stencil: Embossing" challenge...Christmas style!
I started off with a #8 Manila tag using Tim's Layering Stencil Embossing technique, which I can't tell you about! ;)  moving onward...
I dyed a Tim Holtz Minitree with some peeled paint distress spray stain and wrapped a little tissue tape around the bottom wooden piece (before hand) so it wouldn't get any color on it.
Now you don't want to waste all that leftover color that's on your craft mat...
I always like to have a little crinkle ribbon on hand or a tag and just soak up the color and dry, you'll eventually use it.
I gave my Minitree a haircut so it would lay flat when I glued it down on my tag.
I altered the color of some fun little jingle bells I had, they started off shiny silver.  I painted a coat of tarnished brass distress paint and dried with a heat tool.  I put my bells on a couple of toothpicks so that I wouldn't get smudge marks all over them while painting and drying.
Start to finish...
After my coat of tarnished brass distress paint was dry, I went behind with some black soot distress paint wiping off before it dried.  What you're left with is a very grungy-vintagy look that I was really happy with.

I dyed a mirrored star with mushroom alcohol ink.
I stamped the sled from the Christmas blueprints 5 stamp set with jet black archival ink and distress watercolor cardstock.   Then I colored with distress ink and cut out.  The little miniature pinecones that I had on hand were white and I actually wanted to give them more of an off-white look so, I painted them with antique linen distress paint.
I die cut several pieces of holly from some Kraft core cardstock and the holiday greens die.  I misted my holly with a little brushed pewter and tarnished brass distress spray stain and dried with the heat tool.  I attached my bells to a Tim Holtz ring fastener and then attached that to my ribbon.
I glued my mirrored star to the top of the tree, then glued everything else in place.

Pretty Packages Under The Tree...

Hi everyone Bobbi here!  Thank you so, so much for all the wonderful comments on my Merry & Bright Cabinet Card, I really do appreciate all your visits and lovely comments!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, if you celebrate that holiday.  I know I ate far too much but, it was a wonderful day filled with family, good food and times to treasure.  I am truly thankful for so many things!  Today I'm sharing a project that I recently did with Christmas in mind.  I don't know about you but, I always like to have pretty packages under the tree!  I like the gifts I'm giving to look extra special!  Inspiration Emporium has a new challenge for December "Sing, Sing It Loud" challenge!  Anything that has to do with music, sheet music, music notes, singing, will be perfect to enter!  My largest present has some fun musical note Christmas tissue tape and I can just imagine they're singing loud and clear in that sleigh full of children with Santa!
I will have a full list of all the products that I used at the end of this post.
For all of my presents I used a selection of Tim Holtz dies, ephemera packs, ideology metal pieces and trimmings.
It's really hard to see but the diecut word "believe" is done in red glitter, very sparkly :)
That fun ATC sized North Pole map, is from Tim Holtz Merriment Paper Stash Collection.
The snowflakes are a really fun Colored Crackle technique out of Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities III book, so much fun!
I used some Found Relatives, Occasions cards and did a little distressing.
The Prancing Deer, I just love how he turned out.  I cut it out of super thin Balsa wood.  I'm not gonna lie, it is fragile.  I did have to do some minor surgery with some glue to the antlers but he was well worth it!
