12 Tags of 2014 {My June Version}

Hi everyone, today I'd like to share my June version of Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2014.  I know, just in the nick of time right :)  I had a lot of fun with the bright colors of Distress Inks for this tag.  Tim Holtz has a wonderful tutorial on his blog with step-by-step instructions on how to create this fun technique here.
The Tim Holtz Layering Stencil that I used is Rays THS003 and the stamp set is Tim Holtz's - Just Thoughts CMS078.  The Distress Ink colors that I used throughout the project were - Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry, Gathered Twigs, Ripe Persimmon, Peacock Feathers, Wild Honey, Dried Marigold, Seedless Preserves, Mowed Lawn, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed.
I stamped, colored and cut an extra heart and then popped it up with a foam square for the layering effect.
I made a cute little pink ombre charm with the idea-ology heart charms.  Instead of using the stickers that comes with the charms I used some of Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper, Distress Ink and his Remnant Rubs (I love those rub-ons).
I finished it off with a hand dyed ribbon, some more idea-ology pieces and some more Remnant Rubs. So there you have it, that's my version of Tim's June Tag.  Thanks for dropping by and I'll see ya next time!

Practical Scrappers June Blog Hop!

Hi everyone and welcome to this months Scrap Your Stash Blog Hop hosted by Practical Scrappers!  You should have arrived here from Lee-Anne's blog if not check it out here.  It's that time of the month where you dig into your stash of scrapbooking supplies!  This month for my layout, I used Basic Grey's Hipster and Carte Postale lines.  I had a lot of fun with this and gave it a mixed-media twist.  I can hardly believe my son is 22 now :)
My base sheet was from the Hipster collection.  I started by adding Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste with stencils to add some texture.  After that was good and dry I brushed some gesso over my page concentrating on especially where the embossing paste was placed.
After my gesso dried I added color with some Mr. Huey's - Desert and some watercolors.  I used some vintage books papers and prints from the Carte Postale line.  I shaded all my paper pieces with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool.  I distressed my paper edges with a bone folder.
I added a little background interest with just some sewing thread.
I used Studio Calico Wood Veners and Thickers.

Compendium of Curiosities III Challenge #3- Faux Tea Roses

Hi everyone, today I'm sharing a project that I did for the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge III hosted by Linda Ledbetter.  Challenge number three is a technique found on page 65 of Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities Volume Three book called Faux Tea Roses.  If you don't have this great book you can find it here and Tim Holtz will even sign it for you!!!  This challenge is sponsored by Inspiration Emporium who have a wonderful gift voucher to give away to one lucky random winner. Also, the Curiosity Crew Pick wins a fabulous pack of goodies from Tim and Mario!  Now,here is my take on this challenge with Faux Tea Roses.
The base of my project is a Tim Holtz's Burlap Panel.

Next, I used several pieces out of the Thrift Shop Ephemera Pack.  I shaded all of the paper pieces with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a blending tool.  Then I distressed all of the paper edges with a bone folder.
I had a lot of fun making those fabulous Faux Tea Roses of Tim's!
I used several of the metal idea-ology pieces and finish off with a hand dyed bow.
I hope you enjoyed my project, thanks for stopping by and we'll see you next time!

Practical Scrappers May Blog Hop

Hi everyone and welcome to this months Scrap Your Stash Blog Hop hosted by Practical Scrappers!  You should have arrived here from the fabulous Melissa's blog, if not check it out here.  It's that time of the month where you dig into your stash, you know that older stack of scrapbook paper that just keeps multiplying because you have found new paper that you just can't live without!  What, what is that you say..." Why Bobbi that looks like more Crate Paper".  Yes...yes it is, I just can't help myself (one of my favorite scrapbook companies) I'm obsessed.  For this layout I'm using Crate Papers - On Trend collection.
I layered several patterned papers from the collection.  I shaded my paper pieces with walnut stain Distress Ink and a blending tool and then distressed the edges with a bone folder.
I did a little splattering with some Heidi Swap Gold Color Shine and Mister Huey's Opaque White sprays.  I am in love with that gold!!!
All of the wood veneers are Studio Calico and the buttons are from the On Trend collection as part of an embellishment pack.

CC3C Challenge Number One

Now when I heard that Linda Ledbetter was hosting the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge Three, I just had to get in on it!  You all know what a big Tim Holtz fan I am :)  Now for those of you that don't know about it, it's a challenge based off of Tim Holtz new book "A Compendium of Curiosities Volume 3" like all of his other books it's packed full and techniques!  Here is my take on the first challenge which was paint marbling (page 43 in Tim's Book)
The image of the three boys are one of the cards from Tim's Found Relatives Card Pack, I just fussy cut them out.  I also used Tim Holtz's Layering Stencil, Remnant Rubs, Wire Pins, Mini Film Strip Ribbon and Type Charm.  Here's what it looked like before I put all the goodies on there :)
Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at my tag and don't forget to hop over to Studio L3 to check out challenge number one.  Thanks so much for the visit.  I really appreciate it, have a wonderful day!  xx

Practical Scrappers - Scrap Your Stash Blog Hop

Hi everyone and welcome to this months Scrap Your Stash Blog Hop hosted by Practical Scrappers!  I am loving that spring is finally here and the grass is getting green and the flowers are starting to bloom...what could be better!  For this blog hop I was thinking of just that, spring and flowers!  You should have made it here from the fabulous Erin's blog, if you are playing in order.  This month I wanted to use some more of my Crate Paper stash, y'all know this is one of my favorite companies so I need to whittle down my stash :)
This particular Crate Paper is the first Maggie Holmes collection.  I used several different different snippets of paper from the collection itself.  I shaded all of the edges with walnut stain distress ink.  I distressed all of the edges of the paper with a bone folder and did some sewing.  You know my pages just aren't complete without a few studio calico wood veneers :) I also used some Mr. Huey color mist sprays in opaque white, classic tan and splash.  I punched a few shapes out with some of my Martha Stewart punches and put them in a small glassine envelope.

If you're wondering about the photo that I used, it's a floral picture from my flower garden and an iPhone/iPad app called Rhonna Designs.  I believe the app also works for android-based phones as well.  You can really do a lot of fun things to your photos for not a lot of $$$.  I hope you enjoyed my layout, let me know what you think, I love your comments!  Thanks for stopping by and we'll see you next time!  Next on the blog hop list is the very talented Wendi, happy hopping!!!
