I had full intentions of sharing more wedding makes, squeezing it in right before Thanksgiving. I had an unexpected house full at Thanksgiving and I couldn't be happier! I love it when family comes together to creates special memories. Soooooo all things wedding sharing was put on hold, till now. Next
up are the "Wedding Invitations".
My sister wanted simple fall rustic wedding invitations, this is what I came up with.
I did manage to squeeze in just a bit of shading and distressing though (wink)!
I started off by coloring some Distress
Mixed Media Heavystock with a selection of Distress Stains. I spritzed
the heavystock with water. Then spritzed the distress spray stains
onto the heavystock.
I spritzed some additional water onto heavystock to get the color moving. Then dried with a heat tool. I die cut the mini tattered leaves and did some shading with walnut stain distress ink.
I painted a thin layer of white gesso onto
Heavystock. Then dried with heat tool. I squeezed a couple
drops Distress Paint onto glass media mat, and
lightly mist the paint with a Distress Sprayer using water. I pressed the
gessoed side of the Distress Heavystock into the paint mixture until
covered. Then dried with a heat tool. To add more distress, I picked up droplets
of color off the glass media mat with heavystock, blotting to
pick up the color (not swiping), then drying with heat tool. (I forgot to take a process photo of that step). I did this for both the black for the antlers and the brown for the branches.
I die cut the antlers from the Winter Wonderland die set and black colorized heavystock. The die I used was the larges deer, but I only used the antler portion. Now Tim has this great Cool Yule Thinlit set that would be perfect too! I printed all wedding info onto kraft cardstock, then backed on a dark brown panel. The RSVP's recieved 1 set of antlers. I used Distress Collage Medium Matte to glue antlers. This stuff is great, it dries clear and if you get a little too much on your project...it dries matte and is virtually impossible to see. It's one of those must have tools :)
I punched the branches from the brown colorized heavystock using Tim's branch punch, just the right size. Then I punched the maple and oak leaves from the scraps of leaves die cut earlier.
The small branches and leaves punch outs were attached to "The Details" panel. A pair of tweezers or pick me up came in really handy.
At the time I had made these wedding invitations, I used the mini acorn from the movers and shapers dies. Now Tim
came out with this awesome little acorn in the Funky Foliage Thinlits, I
would have totally used it instead! I laser printed a whole sheet of
wording then die cut the acorn. I laid the gold minc foil over wording
and ran thru minc. Peel the foil off and you have pure magic. The
acorn detail took some time, but so worth it!
To create the trifold base of the card, I started with a piece of 12x12 heavy kraft cardstock. Click on photo to view measurements and score lines.
I did a little shading with walnut stain distress ink around the edges of tri card base. Then attached a little score tape (you could use your favorite super heavy duty double sided tape) to right edge of bottom 3 inches to create the folder.
The Wedding panel was attached to largest center portion inside card. I also inserted return envelope/RSVP/The Details panels on right side in folder.
Now for the belly band. I spritzed a piece of kraft cardstock with a little water, then ran the Lumber 3-D folder thru 3 passes of vagabond or big shot die cut machine. I cut the strips down to 1 1/2 inches. I attached two strips together to create a belly band that would fit around the folded trifold card.
Created a couple of score marks to make folding easier, then used more score tape to secure band.
The larger die cut leaves were layed out in groupings of 2, along with an acorn. I punched a super small hole in all 3 pieces and tied off a piece of jute string.
I die cut a label from kraft cardstock using the Labels thinlits die set. Then adhered it to center of belly band using foam squares. To finish it off the leaf acorn trio was attached to center of label with adhesive.
So there ya go, DIY wedding invitations are totally achievable! Pick your theme and color palette and go for it!
I know fall is quickly coming to an end,
