Hi everyone, I'm glad you stopped by! Today I'm sharing a project that I did for Inspiration Emporium and Compendium of Curiosities III Challenge hosted by Linda Ledbetter. I started off with a #8 Manila tag using Tim's Layering Stencil Embossing technique, which I can't tell you about! ;) moving onward...
I dyed a Tim Holtz Minitree with some peeled paint distress spray stain and wrapped a little tissue tape around the bottom wooden piece (before hand) so it wouldn't get any color on it.
Now you don't want to waste all that leftover color that's on your craft mat...
I always like to have a little crinkle ribbon on hand or a tag and just soak up the color and dry, you'll eventually use it.
I gave my Minitree a haircut so it would lay flat when I glued it down on my tag.
I altered the color of some fun little jingle bells I had, they started off shiny silver. I painted a coat of tarnished brass distress paint and dried with a heat tool. I put my bells on a couple of toothpicks so that I wouldn't get smudge marks all over them while painting and drying.
Start to finish...
After my coat of tarnished brass distress paint was dry, I went behind with some black soot distress paint wiping off before it dried. What you're left with is a very grungy-vintagy look that I was really happy with.
I dyed a mirrored star with mushroom alcohol ink.
I stamped the sled from the Christmas blueprints 5 stamp set with jet black archival ink and distress watercolor cardstock. Then I colored with distress ink and cut out. The little miniature pinecones that I had on hand were white and I actually wanted to give them more of an off-white look so, I painted them with antique linen distress paint.
I die cut several pieces of holly from some Kraft core cardstock and the holiday greens die. I misted my holly with a little brushed pewter and tarnished brass distress spray stain and dried with the heat tool. I attached my bells to a Tim Holtz ring fastener and then attached that to my ribbon.
I glued my mirrored star to the top of the tree, then glued everything else in place.
